Munroe's bariatric surgery program can help you explore your weight loss surgery options.
Research has shown that, as weight increases to reach the levels referred to as "overweight" and "obesity," the risks for coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancers (endometrial, breast and colon), hypertension (high blood pressure), stroke, sleep apnea and many more dangerous conditions also increases. At Munroe Bariatrics, our goal is to make sure that your weight loss surgery delivers the expected weight loss benefits.
Munroe Regional's Bariatric program is committed to providing quality, superior care to those patients who require our specialized bariatric surgery services. In 2007, Munroe was named an American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. On April 1, 2012, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and the Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) combined their respective national bariatric surgery accreditation programs into a single unified program to achieve one national accreditation standard for bariatric surgery centers, the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP)
Our bariatric surgery center patients benefit from an entire team of experienced staff who are dedicated to compassionately treating individuals of size. We have a devoted bariatric nursing unit that is prepared with spacious rooms and any specialized weight loss surgery equipment that they may require.
